Need Some Friends?
Written by admin on September 27, 2009
A good friend of mine who moved back to Indiana a few months ago told me how he’s having a difficult time meeting people. He’s not really the type that will go out to a club or bar and approach people, so I told him he should look into some indiana chat lines. He’ll be able to meet some people that way…he doesn’t have to go out and meet them unless he wants to, etc. It’s a much more comfortable approach. There is also webcam chat so you can see the person before you do go out, which is always good.

My Brother Is Moving Down Here!

I just got word from my Brother that he’s going to be moving down here!!! Well, actually, he’s being re-stationed here in San Diego. He’s currently in West Virginia but they’re just re-assigned him to Camp Pendelton which is awesome. It’s been so long since we’ve actually hung out. He told me he’s already in plans to get a moving agency but I told him that’s silly…they’re far too expensive. I guess he isn’t aware that he needs to start saving some money…California is expensive! I told him what we’ll do is rent a truck and we’ll use HireAHelper.com to help find us some Movers. It’s a much better alternative when you compare it to those expensive and excessive “traditional” moving companies. I’ve seen that HireAHelper can save 300…400…500…bucks on moving expenses alone, heck, even more at times depending on the situation. They have over 4,000 people in their system that can help you move your stuff. They’ll box it up for you, throw it in the truck…you can move it and they’ll unload it for you when you get to your destination.
My plan for him is to use HireAHelper and they’ll help him get his stuff all boxed up and ready to go. I’ll fly back there and meet him and one of us will drive his car back here and the other will drive the rented truck with his stuff. I actually think I might get my girlfriend to fly back with me as well so I have somebody to talk to while we drive…haha…that’s a lonely drive for me!
That’ll save him a ton of money by doing it this way and in a way, it’ll be a unique bonding experience that we’ve missed. Not only that, now he can use HireAHelper to find some people to landscape his new, fancy, brown dirt of a lawn at his new house. haha

Crash Causes Spill In O’Side
Written by admin on September 24, 2009
Hazmat and sewer crews rushed to clean up a diesel spill Thursday afternoon after a moving van crashed in Oceanside, North County Fire Officials said. At about 1:30 p.m. a moving van collided with an unknown object at the corner of El Camino Real and Mission Avenue. One person was injured and flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment. It’s not yet clear what caused the crash. About 100 to 150 gallons of diesel spilled into storm drains before officials were able to stop the leak at 2:30 p.m.
Sad that’s all draining into our local ocean. Guess I’ll avoid O’Side beach in the morning…you should as well.

Strike At UCSD
Written by admin on September 24, 2009
UC San Diego students returned to class Thursday amid an animated backdrop of walkouts, teach-ins and an employee strike intended to draw attention to severe state budget cuts.
About 200 students and faculty gathered at an afternoon teach-in to decry the impact of funding cuts, which have prompted student fee hikes, layoffs, unpaid furloughs and numerous other cuts.
Elsewhere on campus, an additional 200 students, faculty and staff rallied in an event billed as a walk-out, marching alongside technical employees on strike over labor negotiations.
Just a pure mess, IMO.

Grandma Needs A Lil Help
Written by admin on September 24, 2009
Do you have one of those grandparents who is totally terrified of any technology? Okay, if you do, you know exactly what I’m talking about. I’ve tried to get my grandmother to use a computer but it’s no luck. She wants no part. The problem is, she sees things all the time and wants me to find them online for her at a discount….today is no different. She calls me this afternoon and tells me she wants me to find her some cheap medical stockings. Now, I really wasn’t aware of what these were exactly so I had to ask. She told me they are stockings that are used in a variety of ways. Some women just wear them to help with their varicose veins or to prevent them, but they’re also used for more serious issues like burns or edema. They actually have people wear them who have tired leg syndrome as well (or weak legs) as the medical stockings actually promote blood flow within the leg. I actually had no idea your blood flow was semi restricted naturally which is why so many people do have leg issues and/or get varicose veins.
So, now it’s off to get her a few pairs and hope she enjoys! At least I found some for cheap!

Coming to San Marcos Texas
Written by admin on September 24, 2009
Yep!! Get your cowboy hats on my friends…in a few short weeks, I’ll be off to San Marcos Texas. I’ll also be making quick stops in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. Now, you’re most likely wondering why I’m taking a trip down and along the Texas panhandle. Well, actually, I was invited by a good friend of mine. He got tickets for the Sacramento Kings Texas road trip so we’ll be in Texas for a good week. Now, if you follow basketball, you know we’re going to have a few days off between games so we’re gonna take a trip to San Marcos and see what we can do. Neither of us have ever been to San Marcos (I’ve been to Dallas and he Houston), so, it’s pretty new to us. I was looking around some travel sites like Hill-Country-Visitor.com trying to figure out what we should do and where we should go. Actually, my bigger concern is where we’re gonna stay and where we’re gonna eat, but thankfully all of that information was on the Hill Country Visitor website. I know you guys are gonna miss me, but, I’ll be sure to post up some pictures on the blog when I get back. I can smell the El Paso already!!!!

Trucking Management Software? Really?
Written by admin on September 24, 2009
Okay, I’m going to be honest. Maybe it makes me sound really stupid and naive, but, I had no idea there was actually trucking management software. I mean, now that I think about it…it does make some serious sense, but, I guess I never really thought about it. But, you’re most likely wondering how this came up…sooo..earlier today I was outside when this big rig comes rolling down the street. It’s my across the street neighbors son. I’ve known him for a while but I had no idea he was driving trucks now. Anyway, he gets out and we start talking as he sees me and as we were talking I saw this massive white dome on the top of his roof and of course curiosity got the best of me. I asked what it was and he informed me it was the satellite for the trucking management software which allowed the headquarters to keep track on the truck. That way, they know where the shipment is, how long the driver has been on the road, when the shipment will arrive, etc. It’s really identical to tracking a package in the mail, if you will. He told me the model he was using on his truck was installed just a few days ago…it was a brand new piece from MTIHorizon that his company installed. It was pretty impressive to say the least.

NYC Signs For Our Little League
Written by admin on September 24, 2009
As many of you know, I am in the process of setting up a local little league. With the boys from Park View winning it all, it really inspired me to go out and create a league. One of the many issues I’ve ran into is that I need a sign, and I’m hoping that NYC signs will get the job done for me.
When I was talking to a good friend of mine who lives in the New York area, he told me that he has used Metro Sign Communications before and loved their work. He said the sign was very durable and of high quality which I’ll need since the sign will be outdoors on the food shack. And speaking of, that makes me wonder if I’ll need to get one for the food shack. The shack is really the only way the league makes any profit for the kids (other than donations), so, the more promotion it gets the better off we are.
But as to the signs, with over 23 years experience, I’m pretty sold on Metro Sign Communications and their product, especially with an endorsement from Tony, my New York friend. Now it just comes down to getting the design right and we’re on our way.

My Turn For A Sink
Written by admin on September 24, 2009
So the other day I was talking about how my parents were wanting to get a new sink and how I needed to get one, well, it’s about time that I do. I mean, I really don’t NEED a new one, mine works fine…it was just poorly made and it’s going to bust on me pretty soon. So, I’m thinking I should prevent the fire before it erupts, no? So, after careful deliberation, I think I’ve decided that I’m going to go with one of the Glass Vessel Sinks. I really love the frosted look. It’ll look perfect with the urban theme of my bathroom. And not only that, it comes with a lifetime warranty (and it’s made of tempered glass as well), so, I wont have to worry about getting a bad product. Plus, considering all, they’re really cheap for the high quality product that they are. I think I found me a winner!
