Lake Elsinore Wetlands To Be Built
Written by admin on October 24, 2009
A key obstacle to Lake Elsinore moving forward with its elaborate plan for a boat launch and related improvements has been cleared with a federal agency’s issuance of a permit.
The Army Corps of Engineers has agreed to the city’s proposal to create about 11.5 acres of wetlands habitat on a small peninsula extending from the levee at the lake’s southeast corner to make up for loss of habitat resulting from the boat launch project on the northwest side.
The last loose end in the agreement was laced up last week with the City Council’s acceptance of the permit conditions, which establish requirements on how the habitat work will be done and require the city to permanently preserve the habitat.
