Two teenage bicycle riders were injured in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday when a driver veered into the bike lane in front of them and then took off, authorities said.
The boys, ages 13 and 14, were riding west on Bear Valley Parkway east of Royal Crest Drive about 8:20 a.m. when a tan-colored SUV veered into the bike lane, said California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Newbury.
The first rider applied the brakes and steered to the right to avoid the SUV and collided with the curb instead. The second rider also tried to stop but collided with his friend and was thrown off his bike.
