Gramps Visiting Soon

Written by admin on December 30, 2009

So, my Grandfather, who is an avid golfer had his hand operated on this morning…and he wont be doing any golfing for a while. It wasn’t that big of a deal, he just had a problem with a finger…but he is going to be out of action for a while on the links. Anyway, he’s going to be coming down here in about a month to visit and being he wont be able to golf I wanted to see if I could find something new for us to do while he was down here. I know he’s always been a big fan of guns, but there isn’t really much area to shoot them around here…so I’m thinking of getting myself an airsoft shotgun and taking it and he out to the desert for some fun. I think he’ll get a kick out of it.

Dang Cats On The Fence

Written by admin on December 30, 2009

Ugh – first off, don’t get it twisted – I love animals and cat’s are part of that group too but man they are just destroying my fence. I’ve never seen it, but, these cats dig…like they’re dogs or something, trying to get under the fence posts. Most cats would climb, but, not these ones. They just keep digging and digging. I’ve put rocks in the way…I’ve put other things in the way in hopes it would stop them, but nothing works. I told my Grandfather about it and he told me that I need to get some wire mesh. He says they hate the way it feels on their paws so not only will they not walk on the top of the fence, they’ll stop digging at the bottom. Hopefully it works!

Visting Texas Soon

Written by admin on December 30, 2009

I’m not sure if you guys remember, but, I was invited to go down to Texas this coming Feb to be a guest at the NBA All-Star weekend. Well, my friend and I have decided we’re going to make a week out of it and we’re going to hit a few of the local fun spots in the state. One place we’ll be staying for a few days is Fredericksburg Texas. Now, I’m going to be honest, I’ve never heard of it…so, I guess it’s time to do a little research. Hopefully there is a good amount of fun stuff for us to do and see while we’re there. I’m sure we’ll make a quick stop at the town Visitor Center to see what kinda fun we can get into – I’m excited as can be!

Annual Ocean Dip To Take Part In La Jolla

Written by admin on December 29, 2009

Looking for a way to clear that fog from the New Year’s Eve party hangover? Join a couple hundred of your fellow San Diegans as they jump into the frigid Pacific Ocean on New Year’s Day.

The La Jolla Cove Swim Club is sponsoring the 33rd Annual Polar Bear Plunge at La Jolla Shores from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.

Organizers anticipate about 200 swimmers, wearing little more than their summer swimwear, will run across the sand and jump into the cold ocean.

San Diego Lifeguards and volunteers will be patrolling the water in kayaks and personal watercraft to make sure all the budding polar bears return to shore.

How cold will it be? The average water temperature for this time of year is 58 degrees, according to the National Oceanic Data Center.

For more information, call the San Diego Parks & Recreation Department at (619) 235-5929.

When Tagging Goes Wrong

Written by admin on December 29, 2009

A Vista boy was in custody today on suspicion of 232 counts of graffiti vandalism, authorities said.

The boy caused a total of more than $101,000 in damage to areas he tagged in Vista, said San Diego County sheriff’s Sgt. Joe Mata.

Deputies arrested the boy late Monday morning at his residence, he said, adding that investigators were looking into whether he was responsible for an additional 85 incidents of vandalism.

The boy’s name was withheld because he is a minor. His age was not immediately released.

I can’t help but feel a little bad for the kid since I’m sure it was peer pressure that did him in, but, you also need to have a stronger will than that. There was a lot of peer pressure on me and other kids but we never sat in a jail cell.

Fire In Mission Hills

Written by admin on December 29, 2009

Two Mission Hills residents were arranging for interim lodging Monday in the aftermath of a fire that caused about $300,000 worth of damage to their home and fatally injured their dog.

A faulty floor heater sparked the blaze in the 1900 block of Titus Street shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

It took crews about 10 minutes to extinguish the flames, SDFRD spokesman Lee Swanson said. Animal control personnel were called in to care for the injured dog, which later died, Swanson said.

The American Red Cross aided the two displaced adults in securing housing.

Mom Wants a Firearm?

Written by admin on December 29, 2009

This came out of left field, but, my Mother informed me she wants to get a firearm, just for her protection. It’s a good thing but it’s something she needs to take serious so, I told her to check out Force Training Systems. They’ll make sure she has the proper arms training so she knows how to not only use it in the case of need but as well as how to be safe with it, which is so important.

Thanks to Force Training Systems.

Friend Moving On

Written by admin on December 29, 2009

Got word the other night that a good buddy of mine will be moving to Lexington, SC here in the next few months so he’ll be in need of some Lexington SC Real Estate. I did a little research last night looking at the area he’ll be in and it’s really nice – close to schools and shopping centers….great ease is what you look for in a community, so, he’s got that covered. But dang, I’m going to miss him and his family.
