Another Charger To The IR

Written by admin on December 23, 2009

The San Diego Chargers have placed center Scott Mruczkowski on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

Mruczkowski was hurt during the game-winning drive in Sunday’s 27-24 victory against Cincinnati. Mruczkowski started the last 13 games at center after Nick Hardwick hurt an ankle in the season opener at Oakland, requiring surgery.

Hardwick might return in Friday night’s game at Tennessee.

To replace Mruczkowski on the active roster, the Chargers signed Eric Ghiacuic. He started 42 of 48 games at center from 2005-08 with Cincinnati. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an unrestricted free agent in 2009 and was released after training camp.

I swear – this team needs new doctors or something. lol

Carlsbad Police Officer Convicted

Written by admin on December 23, 2009

A retired California Highway Patrol lieutenant from Carlsbad was convicted yesterday in Orange County of attempting to commit unlawful sexual acts with a person he thought was a 13-year-old girl.

Steven Robert Deck, 55, was taken into custody and will not be allowed to post bail. He faces a maximum sentence of four years in prison at a sentencing hearing set for Jan. 22.

Deck was arrested in 2006 with 12 other men during a sting operation by Laguna Beach police that targeted older men trying to meet young girls over the Internet. He had been free on bail.

The former lieutenant was working in the CHP’s southern Orange County office at the time of his arrest. He previously had worked in San Diego, said Deputy District Attorney Robert Mestman, who is prosecuting the case in Santa Ana.

He retired the day after his arrest. Now he’ll be spending his retired years in a jail cell – rightfully so!

Historic Waterfall Is Going To Get New Neighboors

Written by admin on December 23, 2009

A former gravel mine that’s home to a historic waterfall will be listed as a potential housing development area in a new citywide plan, the Carlsbad City Council decided Tuesday.

In a 4-0 vote, with Councilman Mark Packard absent because of an illness, the council approved what’s known as its Housing Element —- a state-required document that spells out where the city will allow additional home construction, particularly high-density, low-income housing.

“These units have to go somewhere,” Mayor Bud Lewis said before voted in favor of the controversial housing plan. “The state has us in a Catch-22.”

The council’s decision came after extended testimony from 25 public speakers, with nearly all of them opposed to the proposed housing plan, particularly its plans for the old gravel mine area on the northern edge of the city. Opponents ranged from students in the environmental Green Club at Carlsbad High School to the president of the Buena Vista Audubon Society.

Now, I used to live in this area (above it actually) and it pains my heart to see that they’re going to turn this into ANOTHER residental area…as if there isn’t enough there already. I know they’ll do a nice job of preserving the waterfall but still…it’s just not going to be the same.

Brother Beno’s Holiday Event

Written by admin on December 23, 2009

Several hundred families descended on Brother Benno’s small warehouse in Oceanside on the first of a two-day holiday toy giveaway Tuesday morning, and by all accounts things went off without a hitch.

Festive decorations, hot cocoa, yummy donuts and cookies, Christmas carols and the ever-present smiles of eager volunteers greeted participants.

After presenting a voucher they received a few weeks ago, each family received a sack for each registered child, then sent to a table where age and gender-appropriate gifts awaited.

Volunteers had placed a large toy, small toy, game, puzzle, blanket, stuffed animal and candy canes into each sack. In all, more than 800 families registered back in October, and more than 2,000 children will receive gifts this holiday season, which is just AWESOME in my humble opinion.

They’re still taking Christmas donations if anybody is interested.

Need A Lawyer?

Written by admin on December 23, 2009

Cause my friend does. This morning I awake to a message on my phone of my friend in a mild panic like state, telling me I need to call his mother to bail him out. I guess he wanted ME to deal with his upset mother…thus he called me. haha. Anyway, long story short – I guess he got a little too tipsy last evening and he and another group of guys got into a fight. The cops were called and it ended up in a few of them being hauled off to jail. The bail was set pretty low so he should be getting out here in a few hours (his mother is on her way up to get him)…but he’s going to be in need of a Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney pretty soon. I’ll do a bit of research for him and see what his options are. I think he’s got a pretty good case since HE was the one who got attacked first.

A Grandfather Clock – For My Grandfather

Written by admin on December 23, 2009

First off, let me say, buying anything for my Grandfather is a hard task. He seems to have everything and his only real passion is golf. But, I remember when he retired he got this amazing clock that he just adored and it’s been my goal for quite some time to get him something that he’ll remember me by. I want him to walk by it and think of me, you know? I’m tired of getting him boring golf balls as gifts, etc. So, I’m thinking for his birthday that I might want to look into some grandfather clocks. So, I was doing a bit of research about them (cause I really don’t know that much) and I found out that you can have the clocks engraved – how cool is that?! So not only will it remind him of me when he sees it but I’ll also be able to put a special message on it as well. I think that’s a really cool feature, don’t you!?

Now it really just comes down to what style I want to get him. There are so many to pick from! I think what I’ll do is casually show him the clocks in conversation when he comes to visit, see which one he seems to focus on, and go from there. The Howard Miller clocks are my personal favorite so far – I have a feeling he’ll love em!

Thinking Of A Green Franchise?

Written by admin on December 23, 2009

I am a very green person I think, and I really respect businesses that are also green. I do a lot of business at them in all honesty. I saw in article in a magazine the other day at the doctors office and it was talking about green business and green franchises, such as filtafry.  It’s one of those companies that turn cooking oil into fuel – pretty cool huh? I wonder what other types of green business one could start?

Blow Off A Little Holiday Steam?

Written by admin on December 23, 2009

This morning I get an e-mail from a good buddy of mine…telling me about his Christmas plans and things like that and then at the end of the e-mail, he’s all “dude, you gotta check this out” and he gave me a link. Now, I’m thinking it’s a Christmas picture or something…nope! It’s a link to Free Porn – haha, he’s such a character.

What Happened To Music Videos?

Written by admin on December 23, 2009

Seriously – I was watching MTV and MTV2 last night and it was just a bunch of reality TV shows. What ever happened to normal Music Videos? I guess the only place to watch them is online now, which is fine by me…but still.

Traveling To Italy

Written by admin on December 23, 2009

In a few months I’ll be traveling to Italy for business – it’ll be my first time there (though I have been to Europe), so, while I have a little idea of what to expect…I really don’t know my way around the country at all. I was talking to my friend who had been there before and he told me that without a doubt, I need to look inyo Car Hire Italy to travel around. I usually do get a car hire if I’m in a bit city that I’m not too familiar with, so, I have to agree it’s a good idea. Plus, can you image me driving on the other side of the road? I have a difficult time enough as it is right now!!! haha
