No Rain…For Now

Written by admin on January 28, 2010

Put away the umbrella for now, but keep a warm coat with you.

A weak high pressure system will bring cool, dry weather Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will be in the low to mid-60s along the coast and in the 50s in the mountains, forecasters say. Clear skies are expected in the day and at night.

There ARE reports of more wet weather coming our way next week, but, it’s too early to give a definitive date on those. Gotta love this El Nino right?! But hey – we need the water, so…

Another Found Alive In Haiti

Written by admin on January 28, 2010

Seriously – this is just amazing. Reports last night say they found a teenage girl, ALIVE, after almost two weeks under rubble. They said she seemed to have a pretty serious knee/leg injury and was suffering from severe dehydration…but the fact she made it is just amazing. I was somewhat shocked they called off the search for survivors early as they did, but even after almost two weeks…that’s simply amazing that she made it that long. You’d have to think she was closing in on her final days, if not hours. It’s nice to see a good story come out of there now.

Another Big Crash In Murrieta

Written by admin on January 28, 2010

Seriously – when are they going to do something about this? It seems like once or twice a month there is a nasty crash in Murrieta. Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt this time, but, one of these times it’s not going to be so good.

Anyway, a crash involving five vehicles in Murrieta sent five people to local hospitals Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. at Murrieta Hot Springs and Whitewood roads, said Sgt. Sandy O’Donnell. Westbound lanes on Murrieta Hot Springs Road were closed for about an hour and a half, police said.

Five people with moderate injuries were taken to hospitals, police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. No other details were available.

Busby To Be On School Board

Written by admin on January 28, 2010

I know this might rub a few people the wrong way but school officials in Cardiff picked Francine Busby on Wednesday to fill in for the rest of the year on the school board.

Nine people applied for the open seat on the Cardiff Union School District board of trustees, including parents, businessmen, teachers and Busby, who’s running again this year to represent the 50th congressional district.

Busby served on the two-school elementary district’s board before she stepped down to run an unsuccessful campaign in 2006 for the 50th District seat.

Now, I don’t really see much problem with this but I know there are always the Busby haters that will find fault with anything. lol

Do I Look Like Cupid?

Written by admin on January 28, 2010

You know, as I was getting dressed this morning…when I looked in the mirror, I didn’t really see much cupid. Maybe it was my red shirt that set it off, haha, but as I was sitting here this morning my Sister gives me a phone call telling me she can’t find anything to get her fiance for Valentines Day. And I guess since I’m a guy, she expected me to have the perfect answer. So, I asked her if he was into sports (I know, I don’t know him that well…haha) and she told me he really wasn’t…so I thought a little harder and suggested she look into some Seiko kinetic Men’s watches, I have one as does my Step-dad and Grandfather and we all just love and adore them. I’m a big watch guy…I have at least 5 really nice watches and by far the Seiko Kinetic is my favorite. It’s just so classy and elegant without being way too much, you know? Plus, I remember seeing her fiances watch the last time I saw him and it looked like he got it out of a 25 cent machine…haha, so, he’s obviously in need of a large upgrade. The best part? It totally wont set her back since it was well within her budget range. A win/win situation all around!

Girlfriends Birthday Coming Soon

Written by admin on January 28, 2010

Well, I’ve got about a month or so until my girlfriends birthday comes up and I’m really having a hard time coming up with something to buy her. I’ve already got her a couple things, but, I’m not sure they’re really what she wants. So, when I was talking to her yesterday she mentioned to me that she’d like some new sunglasses and she showed me a few pair that she liked, you know, so I’d see the style she was looking for. However, the ones she showed me were SO expensive! YIKES!! So, I figured I should go look for some wholesale sunglasses since I knew they’d be a lot cheaper and really just as good of quality (if not better!). I found a ton of ones I think she’d like so it was hard to pick just a couple pairs…but I think I’ve done it. The nice thing for her? Had I bought them where she first showed me them – I’d be broke…haha…but now she’ll get a couple pairs since the prices were low!

Frustration

Written by admin on January 28, 2010

Time and time again I run out of ink for my printer, and what do I do? I run myself all over town trying to find these special Lexmark Ink Cartridges and most of the stores around here don’t carry them. And when I’m lucky enough to find a store that does, they want an absurd price for them – it’s like what’s the point, you know?! I think I’m going to try PrintCountry.com since I know they have discount cartridges.

Lack Of Insurance?

Written by admin on January 28, 2010

Man, I understand it is a tough time for us…but to go without insurance is such a risk. It doesn’t matter what type of insurance either. For instance, today I got a letter informing me that my health insurance rates are going to rise 25-30%….that’s a TON of money every year. Now, I know a lot of people would just say forget it and go without, but, that’s such a risk. It’s playing with house money, really. You never know when something bad can happen and you have to go to the emergency room. And that example holds true for other types of insurance. What about home owners? You could have something bad happen to your home. Or say for instance, you get in a car crash with no car insurance? It’s really not something to play around with…and I’m going to be looking for some new insurance for myself – actually I already have with NetQuote. Hopefully I’ll find something good for me!

A New Web Host?

Written by admin on January 28, 2010

I don’t know why, but, it always seems to be a never ending search for me. I feel like I’m the Indiana Jones of finding some good web hosting. I’ve tried a few companies here and there and I just wasn’t happy with them. As to my current host, well, I can’t say I’m unhappy…but at the same time, I’m not thrilled either – you know? I’d look around for reviews on the net but some companies didn’t even have any or they seemed to be pre-written, so, I didn’t trust them. I did a little more digging though and I think I’ve found a company I might go with. I still want to do a bit more research on my own, but, they seem to have a lot of the features I need and from the reviews I’ve seen, they seem to almost have no down time. That’s one of the most frustrating things to me – the blog or website always being down. I can’t stand it! Anyway, hopefully I’ll get a little more information and go from there.

More Rain Coming? That’s Right!

Written by admin on January 25, 2010

Residents can count on a lot more sun this week, even though more rain is headed toward the county.

The next in a series of storms that began Jan. 18 should arrive sometime Tuesday and bring rain through Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Unlike last week, however, the region can expect a few straight dry days before the next round of rains begins.

Sprinkles could begin as early as Tuesday morning, with the heavier precipitation coming later in the day,

I don’t think you’ve put those umbrellas too far away anyway after last week, right?!
