Oh! Also About The Remodel

Written by admin on January 22, 2010

I forgot to add it in my previous post about doing a remodel of the house, but, along with the kitchen needing a remodel the bathroom really needs it!! I’m going to be looking for some bathroom vanities to replace the old ones I have and in addition to that I’ll be looking into bathtubs. I think mine is from the 60’s. No, seriously…I really think it is. I need a new one so bad. All of my friends have the nice ones with jets in them, etc, and I’m stuck with this old…plain…boring…cracking piece of junk that I seriously need to throw out!

The Cost Of Moving?

Written by admin on January 22, 2010

So, my Grandparents are going to be moving out of their long time home here this summer and are going to be moving closer to me, which I just love. However, they (and I!) we’re both shocked to find out just how much it costs to move these days. The moving cost for them to just relocate by about 100 miles is just absurd!! So, being they’re not really good on computers I thought I’d see if I could find an alternative method…just something not so expensive, you know? So, after a while I came across movingstaffers.com which seems to be the answer I was needing. They offer packing, loading and unloading services for local or long distance moves at a really reasonable price which is really all they need.

Time To Remodel

Written by admin on January 22, 2010

Well, it’s starting to be that time. If you’ve been watching the news here lately, you know we’ve been getting pounded with rain…but that’s just about over with. Time to move on from Winter into the Spring. And with Spring comes the traditional “spring cleaning”…however this year, I’m going to look into switching it up. It’s been a long time coming, but, it’s finally time to do a little remodeling around the house I think. I’ve got some house plans laid out as to what I want to do. I think what I want to do first is remodel the kitchen – it’s a bit dated looking and it needs some new appliances. In addition to that, I think I’ll knock out the spare bedroom and build outwards and make a game room. The extra bedroom really isn’t used and we can always throw a bed in there. I’m going to need to work on a floor plan for that part of the house, but, it’s been something I’ve been wanting to do for a while and this seems like the best time to do so.

San Diego-area residents can help Haitian earthquake victims by donating shoes.

Sport Chalet has joined forces with Soles for Souls, committing to donating more than 250,000 pairs of shoes to affected areas.

Customers can drop off new or gently worn shoes at any Sport Chalet location through Jan. 31.

As of Sunday afternoon, the Midway location had already collected more than 300 pairs.

Just a GREAT thing from Sports Chalet…really impressed with them. Donate if you can!!

Public Forum In Lemon Grove For Education

Written by admin on January 18, 2010

A public forum will be held tomorrow to discuss a proposal to close an elementary or middle school in the Lemon Grove School District because of budget troubles.

The forum will be held at 6 p.m. at the Lemon Grove Middle School, 7866 Lincoln St., Lemon Grove.

Superintendent Ernie Anastos said the district is considering closing a school because the district may lose $4 million of its $33 million annual budget from the state. Closing a school would save the district between $400,000 to $500,000 a year, he said.

One consideration is closing Lemon Grove Middle School for two years during construction to upgrade the school’s science labs and fitness room, and to build a new school-community library. Money for those projects comes from voter passage last year of Proposition W, a $28 million bond measure.

Another possibility would be to close one of the district’s six elementary schools, Anastos said. A school has not been identified, he said.

The school board is expected to make a decision within two months.

Chargers Lay A Dud

Wow. I don’t even know what to say. That was just a horrific effort…made me ashamed to watch it to be flat honest. The Jets played pretty well, but, well enough to win? I don’t know about that. That was pretty much all on the Boltz, IMO. Hopefully it was enough to send Norv to pasture…just a downright awful game.

A Few Days Ago

Written by admin on January 18, 2010

If you’ll recall, a few days ago I talked about a book that my Dad was reading and he told me I should give it a read. Today he sent me the link some information on the author, anne a lay apostle so I’m going to have to check that out. To me, when I read a book, it’s a large time investment so I want to make sure it’s something good, you know!?

How Bout A Wall Bed?

Written by admin on January 18, 2010

Do you know what I like? Space. Do you know what I need in my house? Space. I have a pretty small second bedroom here in this house and I’m always looking for ways to save room in that particular room. All of the beds I ever find are way too large and I don’t want to put a tiny little twin in that bedroom – they’re just not comfortable to sleep in, in my opinion. So, I’ve come up with the idea of getting a wall bed. I’ve never actually had one but I’ve always thought they were pretty cool and they fit perfectly for what I need!

This is the one I’m looking at:

Naval Air Station To Be Training

Written by admin on January 15, 2010

North Island Naval Air Station will conduct training exercises with aircraft for the next three weeks which will cause an increase in noise levels for island residents.

The exercises are scheduled to begin today and continue through Feb. 8, Navy officials said. The training, called the “Sentry San Diego Exercise,” will feature F-15 Eagle, F/A 18 Hornet and T-45 Goshawk jets, along with E-2 Hawkeye turboprop planes.

Navy officials pledge to conduct most of the exercises during daylight hours in an attempt to minimize the noise impact on residents near the base.

Complaints about the noise can be registered at (619) 545-8233.
