Sad Rady Kin Story

Written by admin on February 26, 2010

- Relatives of La Jolla philanthropist Ernest Rady have filed two lawsuits to block $21 million of a $60 million donation he gave to Rady Children’s Hospital in 2006.

The suits, filed by Canadian nieces and nephews of Rady, claim they never agreed to fund more than half of the $60 million gift to the hospital with money from American Assets Incorporated, the family’s real estate development, financial services and investment management company.

In a statement, Ernest Rady says his financial pledge to Children’s Hospital would be honored in full.

My Eyes Are Killing Me

Written by admin on February 26, 2010

Okay, I admit it….I waited way too long. I don’t like the doctor and it doesn’t matter what kind it is…that even includes the eye doctor. I know, it’s silly, but, the last few weeks I’ve been having an awful time seeing anything. So, I finally went into the doctor and he told me the condition I had. It wasn’t much, but, I do need some eyeglasses so he sent me out front to look at their selection. Omg!! The eye glasses that they had in the front case were SOOOOO expensive. I nearly passed out. lol.

Seriously though, I couldn’t believe how much they were charging. So, I figured here when I get a little time, I’ll check around online and see if there are any places to get them cheaper. My Mom and Stepdad use some website online to get their eyeglasses for cheap, so, I’ll give them a call and see what they suggest. But I’m sure I can save a large amount of money….the doctor’s prices were insane!

Teacher Layoff Meeting Thursday

Written by admin on February 22, 2010

The Murrieta Valley Unified School District board will discuss potential teacher layoffs when it meets at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Facing a $14 million budget deficit for 2010-11, the district has asked employees to take a 7.25 percent salary cut.

Without some kind of reduction, more than 225 teachers and support workers could be laid off and class sizes increased, it was reported last month.

At Thursday’s meeting, information will be given regarding potential teacher layoffs, including financial and educational implications. The meeting agenda does not state how many teaching positions are on the chopping block.

The meeting will be at the district office, 41870 McAlby Court.

What About Business Insurance?

Written by admin on February 22, 2010

A good friend of mine is starting a local bakery downtown (which I think is an EXCELLENT idea…hope he expands it into a deli as well) and it’s just about time to open the place up I think. I say another two weeks or so and it will be open for business. He was telling me about the business insurance he was looking at, which I checked into, and I had to inform him he was totally getting the wrong side of the stick. I’ll show him some REAL business insurance so he can get the right deal for his shop and one that wont totally screw him over.

No More Snow *enter Sad Face*

Written by admin on February 11, 2010

Drier, warmer weather is expected in San Diego County heading into the weekend after a winter storm brought heavy rain during Tuesday’s evening commute and dumped snow on local mountains. Lingering showers tapered off by midday yesterday.

The storm brought 0.32 of an inch of rain at Lindbergh Field, San Diego’s official weather station, for the 24-hour period that ended at 4 p.m. yesterday. It dropped 0.48 of an inch of rain in La Mesa, 0.45 in National City, 0.76 in Ramona and 0.87 in Poway.

The storm also dumped 3 inches of snow in Julian and 7 inches in Mount Laguna. Julian schools were canceled yesterday because of the weather. Snow fell as low as 3,400 feet.

With high pressure building aloft, by the weekend inland valleys could see temperatures in the 70s, and that warmth could last through the middle of next week.
