Get Your Slots On!

Written by admin on March 31, 2010

A San Diego County Indian tribe has won a lawsuit challenging a state cap on slot machines.

A federal judge ruled this week there should have been 10,000 more slot machines allocated to various tribes under a 1999 gaming deal with the state. The lawsuit was filed by the San Pasqual Indian band, which owns a casino in Valley Center.

The Rincon Indian band won a similar lawsuit in San Diego last week.

An attorney for the San Pasqual tribe says the Valley Center casino already has installed more slot machines under a ruling made by a federal judge in Northern California last year.

However, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is challenging that decision.

Former UFC Star Arrested Locally

Written by admin on March 31, 2010

A former Ultimate Fighter who legally changed his name to “War Machine” was arrested Tuesday night in Pacific Beach.

The 28-year-old formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver was involved in an altercation at Thrusters Lounge on Mission Boulevard near Emerald Street about 10:50 p.m., San Diego police said.

A bouncer told officers that the mixed martial artist was “going crazy,” police said.

He ran away when police arrived and was arrested about 10 minutes later a few blocks away at Bayard Street and Garnet Avenue.

He will face charges of assault with a deadly weapon, police said. Officers said the professional fighter struck at least one person in the head with his fist, which could have caused severe injury, though no one was hospitalized.

Man Running Down Freeway In Underpants?

Written by admin on March 31, 2010

I can’t make this up. Really, I can’t.

A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after callers reported seeing him running down the side of westbound Interstate 78 wearing nothing but what appeared to be underwear and socks. Officials said the man appeared impaired when officers contacted him at about 9:45 p.m. Officers created a traffic break and were able to reach the man just west of Rancho Santa Fe Road before he disrupted traffic significantly or injured himself

And yes, they booked him into Vista County before the night was over.

What a mess.

Anybody Watch?

Written by admin on March 31, 2010

Okay, so, I know the Nascar race this past weekend at Martinsville was rained out on Sunday, but, did anybody get to watch on Monday? If you did, you’d have taken notice that the trophy for winning the race was some grandfather clocks. I kid you not – and I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty impressive. They gave out a really big, large one to the driver and then the team members got some smaller ones, but, I thought it was a really neat and different type of trophy. It got me thinking too…during the rec leagues I put on, I’ve been trying to think of something different as a trophy and I think a grandfather clock would actually be a really good idea. It’s different from the normal boring one we’ve been giving out and it’s actually worth something other then some pride, right? haha

Problems With Credit?

Written by admin on March 31, 2010

I’m not sure why this continues to happen with my friends, but, it does. I’ve been out of college for a while now and while I still have a few friends in college, most of them are also out. But one continuing trend I always see with them is their credit problems. Some of them really just don’t know how to manage their money, others don’t really care, and then some others made silly mistakes when they were younger and now the credit gods are coming back to screw them. lol.

But back to the point, they pretty much always come to me for help since I’m, uh, experienced in the matter. I just tell them that all hope is not lost and there are things they can do about it. First off, I think they need some type of credit counseling . They need to be aware of how to plan…how to adjust…and what steps are needed in the process. It’s not a situation you can fix over night…it does take some time and effort and they need to be aware of that. Getting out of debt isn’t fun, but with the right attitude and mind set, along with the proper help, you can do it…so keep your head up. That’s what I tell my buddies.

How To Promote The Little League

Written by admin on March 31, 2010

Well, with baseball season right around the corner, it’s getting to be time for the little guys to sign up. Our league doesn’t start the sign-up’s until late April and I’ve been racking my brain trying to think of things to promote the league and to get more families to sign up. One thing I’ve done is put fliers around town but those things are only so effective. If people don’t have time to write down the number, etc, they just ignore them. So, my next plan of attack is to get some professional business cards. What I’m going to do is go to a lot of areas like doctors, dentists, supermarkets, etc…and just ask if I can leave the business cards there. That way, parents will see them and can take one…that way it’ll stay fresh in their memory. I think it’s a great little way to get interest peaked in the season, don’t you!?

Looking For A Web Host

Written by admin on March 29, 2010

I don’t know about you, but, I’m starting to think that many of the current hosting companies are getting too expensive. I mean, I remember when I started blogging and working on websites, it was so cheap. I don’t really have much more space on my blogs/websites then I did back in the day, but, the price has jumped about 20% or so more. Part of me thinks it’s the companies I’ve been using though because I see a lot of these companies advertising some really good deals. So, I guess I need to start looking into some budget hosting. I guess my best bet is to look around for a place that does reviews of all the sites so I don’t have waste my time doing it all myself….just an overall review of all the companies I could use would be nice. Don’t you agree!?

Police Chase Right Down The Street!

Written by admin on March 24, 2010

YIKES!!

A man who led police on a chase from Ventura County was arrested in Oceanside on Tuesday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man, who was suspected of molesting a 13-year-old girl, crashed his vehicle shortly before 6 p.m. on the ramp that connects Interstate 5 to Highway 78, according to the CHP. A police dog was used to capture the man when he tried to run away.

I thought I heard the sirens last night, but, I assumed it was just the typical situation…not that!
