People Aren’t Going To Like This

State Assembly GOP Leader Martin Garrick of Solana Beach rewarded his chief of staff with a $45,000 raise for assuming added duties three weeks after Garrick ascended to the top GOP post in January, Garrick’s spokesman said Wednesday.
The annual salary for chief of staff Mike Zimmerman increased from $66,780 to $111,996, said Seth Unger, Garrick’s spokesman.
Tom Stinson, who was recently promoted to senior field representative for Garrick, also received a raise, from $27,996 annually to $35,004, the spokesman said.
Garrick was traveling to events throughout the state Wednesday and was not available for comment, Unger said.
The Garrick staffers aren’t the only ones who received raises in recent weeks.

Paint The Town Green
Written by admin on March 18, 2010
The historic heart of San Diego was beating green last night.
On St. Patrick’s Day in the Gaslamp Quarter, Joe and Jen D’Agati were going by an Irish name hours before the beer turned green and the night turned crazy with song and dance.
An estimated 20,000 green-clad revelers were expected last night for the 14th annual ShamROCK in the Gaslamp. Producer Laurel McFarlane launched her company, McFarlane Productions, with the first ShamROCK, and it’s still going strong. More than 60,000 square feet of the Gaslamp Quarter was carpeted between Fifth and Sixth avenues.
It was a total party…and while I’m glad everybody had a good time, I’m glad I was home – not sure I could have dealt with that crowd. lol

I Have Some Extra Gold
Written by admin on March 18, 2010
So I’m not sure if my readers are aware, but, my Grandfather used to work for Pacific Gas & Electric and he did so in the Yosemite area. Anyway, to make a long story short, being out in the wilderness a lot, he ended up finding a good amount of gold working in the hills. It was really nothing huge by any standards, but, small pieces do add up over time. He ended up giving me a large portion of it but really, I have no idea what they’re worth. So I think it’s in my best interest to see what buy gold prices are going for right now. I also have a few coins and pieces of jewelry as well that I would like to get some cash for, so, I’ll need to check it out.

My Desire To Collect Things
Written by admin on March 18, 2010
I’m not really sure how it started…maybe it was on a vacation to Pacific Grove in Northern California and it was the sea shells I found…but for whatever reason, as I’ve got older, I’ve become quite the collector. When I was young (and even now), I’ve always been a big baseball card collector but my new desire are coins. I love them! They’re so valuable…and there is such a vast amount of different collections you can collect. It doesn’t matter if you have a lot of money to spend or just a little and are starting to look to create a small collection…you can always find some type of coins to start a collection. I was looking at some bullion gold coins houston earlier today…I’ve been wanting to get a few new gold coins for my collection, so, I think I might have found a few I’m interested in. Now I just have to decide which one I actually want. Tough call!

Friend Will Need A Lawyer
Written by admin on March 18, 2010
So, about two hours ago I was awoken by a phone call…at about 5:30 AM. I leaned over from my dazed sleep and looked at my phone’s screen and saw one of my good friends numbers pop up. Thinking it must be something serious being 5:30 AM, I picked it up and here he was, freaking out. The dummy was in jail – I kid you not. I guess he went up to LA last night for Saint Patrick’s Day and had a little too much to drink. Some guy started hitting on his girlfriend, one thing lead to another, and they ended up in a childish fight (the guy and him). Neither was hurt badly (so he says), but, they both got hauled off for public intoxication *shakes head*, so, I’m driving up there in just a few minutes to bail him out. But first, I’m looking for a Los Angeles Criminal Lawyer that can help him out once he does have to go to court.
I swear, sometimes being a good friend has its limits eh? ha

OSHA 10?
Written by admin on March 18, 2010
So today I’m walking back to work (I work downtown when I do come into the office) and there is always a large amount of construction going on down here. With all the high rises, etc, you really do need to be careful when you’re out doing something simple as walking. Anyway, to make a long story short, I’m walking…and I walk past a few construction sites and it just boggles my mind how unsafe these things are. One site I walked by had open wires sitting there…I swear somebody could have walked by and shocked themselves. Another, there was a guy standing on a steel beam about, oh, 30 feet or so from the ground…without a helmet!! I couldn’t believe it. I seriously think these guys need to look into OSHA 10 or something for some safety advice…it was seriously scary to think these guys are that careless.

So Summer Is Coming
Written by admin on March 18, 2010
and by all means, if you went outside today or any time this past week – you’d think it was already here! Anyway, I’ve been doing some spring cleaning and yesterday I got up in the attic to get a long of the Spring/Summer items down. One of the things I went to get down were the seat cushions for the outdoor rockers…however…as I grabbed them, the things started to disintegrate right in my hands! I couldn’t believe it! I mean, I know I didn’t pay a lot of money for them…but still – I guess you get what you pay for eh? So, this weekend, my new mission is to find some some rocking chair cushion sets…ones that I wont have to worry about replacing every year. I treat my stuff well, I don’t abuse it or leave it out in the elements, so, I was pretty bummed to see the ones I purchased last year were already ruined. Oh well – time to find some nicer ones!

Toyota Preus Out Of Control On I-8
Written by admin on March 9, 2010
James Sikes was on his way home to Jacumba yesterday afternoon, driving his blue Toyota Prius on a winding stretch of Interstate 8, when he encountered a car that was going a little too slow. Sikes hit the accelerator, totally unprepared for what happened next.
“It did something kind of funny,” said Sikes, 61. “It just stuck there.”
For about 30 hair-raising miles beginning near Lake Jennings Park Road near Flinn Springs, Sikes tried frantically to slow down the 2008 hybrid. At one point the speedometer hit 94 mph, said Sikes, who called 911.
A CHP officer was dispatched and while driving alongside, coached Sikes over a loudspeaker on how to get control of the car, a process that involved the brakes, the emergency brake and, when the speed came down some, turning off the ignition.
To me, this is a true hero – and a GREAT job by the driver not to panic and do anything stupid. I wonder if I could be that strong in that stressful of a situation!?

Odd Package Found At CSUSM
Written by admin on March 9, 2010
The discovery of a “suspicious package” this morning has prompted Cal State San Marcos police to evacuate Academic Hall, one of the largest buildings on campus, chief Ron Hackenberg said in a phone interview.
The bomb squad of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department was slated to arrive on campus just before noon to examine the package, which police found in a bathroom after receiving a tip from a student, Hackenberg said.
It’s most likely some stupid kid playing a prank – if they only knew how much damage and tax dollars it costs…not to mention they trouble they’ll get in.

Gag Order In Chelsea King Case
Written by admin on March 9, 2010
To be expected, without a doubt…but I’d really like to find out more about this sicko so he can be locked away for good!
Anyway, here is a little more info on it:
A convicted sex offender charged with murdering one teen and suspected in the death of another appeared in court Tuesday as a judge issued a gag order and delayed a key hearing in the case.
Defendant John Albert Gardner III spoke only to acknowledge that he waived his right to speedy proceedings.
Superior Court Judge David J. Danielsen rescheduled the preliminary hearing from March 18 to Aug. 4. The hearing is meant to show if there is enough evidence to send Gardner to trial.
The defense sought a September date, and the prosecution wanted the hearing by July.
Danielson also issued a gag order on parties in the proceedings.
