Live music and dancing can continue legally for the time being at a Lake Elsinore bowling alley and game center after the City Council decided Tuesday to postpone acting on its threat to revoke the entertainment permit.

On Feb. 23 the council had decided to give Trevi Entertainment Center proprietor Michel Knight a month to agree to a proposal allowing the center, which includes restaurants and bars, to continue hosting nightclub events until Sept. 30 if he agreed to a series of demands.

On Tuesday, the council met in private over the issue because it involves a lawsuit filed by Knight against the city. State law requiring elected government bodies to meet in public exempts discussions on litigation.

City Attorney Barbara Leibold said the council postponed action Tuesday on the permit until its April 13 meeting.

On St. Patrick’s Day in the Gaslamp Quarter, Joe and Jen D’Agati were going by an Irish name hours before the beer turned green and the night turned crazy with song and dance.

An estimated 20,000 green-clad revelers were expected last night for the 14th annual ShamROCK in the Gaslamp. Producer Laurel McFarlane launched her company, McFarlane Productions, with the first ShamROCK, and it’s still going strong. More than 60,000 square feet of the Gaslamp Quarter was carpeted between Fifth and Sixth avenues.

It was a total party…and while I’m glad everybody had a good time, I’m glad I was home – not sure I could have dealt with that crowd. lol

Make this down – I LOVE to travel. Seriously, it’s one of if not my favorite activity to do. However, I always have one sticking point when I travel – the rental car. I don’t really know how people go on vacation without one….it’s such a life saver. The problem though is the price tag. So many times the car is way too expensive. So, you really need to do your research and find yourself Cheap Car Rentals. They are out there and they’re nice ones too, but, as a travel tip – do your homework before you go on your vacation and have the car ready to be picked up. It’ll be a life saver!

The 101 KGB morning radio show “Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw” is off the air.

An announcement that the radio show, which featured hosts Dave Rickards, Shelly Dunn and Cookie “Chainsaw” Randolph, is no longer on the air was posted Monday on KGB’s Web site.

“After extensive negotiations, and offering the DSC team a very lucrative, multi-year offer, we were unfortunately not able to reach an agreement to keep the show with KGB,” the statement reads.

“We wish Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw all the best in their future pursuits and thank them for their contribution to the station,” the statement continues. “KGB has had a special relationship with listeners in San Diego as the leading classic rock station for many years. We look forward to continuing that tradition.”

I’m not gonna lie – the heart feels a little broken this morning.

The 1,800-acre park, east of Escondido in San Pasqual Valley, has a bonsai pavilion that draws people from as far away as Japan and England.

Housed in a botanical area at the park’s northern end, the pavilion includes more than 60 miniature trees planted in pots and other containers and carefully shaped in specific designs.

Members of the San Diego Bonsai Club maintain the trees, which include specimens that are as much as 400 hundred years old.

Horse-and-carriage rides and strolling carollers will bring holiday cheer to Grand Avenue Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Carriage rides, which begin at the corner of Maple Street and Grand, cost $2 for adults and are free for children under 12.

The carriages and carollers, which will also be present Dec. 12 and Dec. 19, are sponsored by the Downtown Business Association.

I’ll be there for sure – will you? I can’t think of a much better place to be. Okay, scratch that. Maybe a nice, snowy, cold Christmas like area…say for example some klamath falls lodging…but other than that, I’m all over this! See you there hopefully! Come say hi!

The Mission San Luis Rey Parish honored its patron saint, Francis of Assisi, with an animal blessing and fair Saturday, the 800th anniversary since St. Francis established a new order of friars minor in 1209.

This was the parish’s 14th annual St. Francis Day celebration

After parading through the grounds of the parish, proud pet owners formed lines that stretched around the courtyard for a blessing of their animals.

Young and old carried the furry, the feathered and even the scaly to the Rev. Charles Talley for a sprinkle of holy water and a hushed prayer.

Most of the 200 or so blessed pets were dogs, but there were also a few cats, parakeets, chinchillas, gerbils, hamsters and a salamander.

I thought it was pretty cool! Kinda wild living next to such a big part of history.
