So last evening I had dinner with my Stepfather and he was telling me about the grief that he and others were getting at their company. I’d name the company, but I don’t want to get in trouble. Let’s just say…you use their products all the time and most likely, you don’t even know it. Ha, how is that for keeping a secret?!

Anyway, he’s pretty powerful in terms of making decisions, etc…but it’s a process. You go through so many people…if one person doesn’t agree, it holds up everything. So, I got to thinking this afternoon to see if there was some type of outside solution. I really didn’t think there would be, but, I figured it was worth a few minutes of my time to look. After I did for a while, I came across http://www.board-advisory.com which seems almost perfect for what they need to resolve their issues. It’s an independent counsel to boards…that way there are no emotions or feelings involved. Nobody gets their shoes stepped on, if you will, and things get done. I’ve already e-mailed him the link…we’ll see what he says. Hopefully they implement it. Those guys deal with way too much stress as it is.

Welp, it’s that time. Every few years my family and I (my extended family, I should say) will have a family reunion type deal in Milwaukee. It’s something we’ve done for a while now and in all honesty, it’s a ton of fun. My Aunt knows a lady who owns about 8 little cabins right on a lake up there, so, we stay there for a week and just catch up. We try to divide up the responsibilities so it’s not such a chore for everybody and this year I’ve got stuck finding food. So, the last few days I’ve been on an all-out attack to find some good but affordable caterers in Milwaukee. I wasn’t doing so well until this morning…I think I finally found what we need. They have an awesome selection and will be more than willing to travel to our location. So, all in all – looks like it’s going to work out and I’m going to be the hero…haha. You can’t mess up the found, am I right? How come I get all of this pressure?! haha

Although hospital directors voted to ask the San Diego County Grand Jury to look into the matter, Tri-City Hospital District directors stopped short of censuring one of their own in a special meeting Monday night.

In a 4-2 vote, with board member Ron Mitchell absent, the board found that Director Kathleen Sterling violated the hospital’s code of conduct, which forbids threats or intimidation, during a dinner meeting May 26.

The board also voted 4-2, with Sterling and Director Charlene Anderson in opposition, to forward the matter to the grand jury for investigation of whether the director broke any law when allegedly offering future votes for placement in certain board leadership positions.

A separate 3-3 vote to censure Sterling failed, with Director Larry Schallock, along with Sterling and Anderson voting against the proposal.

A new analysis of data from Carlsbad shows no evidence of a “cancer cluster” of any type, state officials said Monday as they held a town hall-style gathering.

“In each case, (the number of cancer incidents) fell inside the expected range,” said Dr. Donald Lyman, head of the state Department of Public Health’s Chronic Disease and Injury Control Division.

“There is no unusual pattern,” he said.

Lyman and other state officials were in Carlsbad on Monday night responding to concerns raised by some residents, particularly parents of children with cancer.

A group of them has been calling for the Carlsbad Unified School District to test the soil, water and air at Kelly Elementary School, saying there is a high number of children and teachers with cancer there.

Asked Monday night if he would send his children to that school, Lyman said he would have no hesitancy in doing so.

I actually didn’t attend Kelly Elementary but I did attend the junior high right across the street as well as the high school right down the road. When I first heard of this, it was pretty freaky – but, the reports seem pretty clear that there isn’t much connection between any of the so called ideas. Still, talk about worrisome…

Hundreds of people ran the streets of central Temecula on Sunday: some trying to earn a cash prize, others looking to support local causes, and the rest working to stay healthy and have fun.

The inaugural “Run for the Hills” 5K run/walk fundraiser drew hundreds of participants to Ronald Reagan Sports Park, where families, retirees and avid runners came together to raise money for three local causes, including to preserve open spaces and aid low-income families.

The event was held by Save Our Southwest Hills, a 10-year-old nonprofit dedicated to preserving the hills flanking the west side of Southwest County, from Murrieta to Rainbow.

Glad to see that this event continues to grow and take off, year after year. It’s great for the community.

About 7:15 p.m., an alarm company for the store at 3770 Mission Ave. and an employee both reported the fire, a NorthComm dispatcher said.

When firefighters arrived and saw the fire, they requested more trucks for help, the dispatcher said.

The blaze was under control about 7:45 p.m. I actually saw the smoke from my house….which is really odd since I was just over there about 15-20 minutes earlier. I guess I got out in time! lol

The group was at a party at the residence on Sunnybrook Lane off Horsemill Road about 9:15 p.m. when three to five intruders stormed in armed with handguns and the stun guns, sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Walker said.

They bound the victims with zip ties and duct tape and shot some of them with the Tasers as they demanded cash and jewelry, Walker said.

They ransacked the home and stole cash, a computer and other items before driving off in a dark SUV.

Seriously, what in the world? Somebody they must have known, I would assume, but really? REALLY!?

With the vast majority of ballots counted, Salas, D-Chula Vista, had gained a slim but apparently solid enough margin to secure the Democratic nomination in the district that stretches from the South Bay and south coastal San Diego into Riverside and Imperial counties.
