Rating Web Hosts
Written by admin on June 1, 2010
I’ve been in the “blogging” industry for quite a while now. Now, when I first started, I really had no idea of what I was doing. I didn’t know much about websites or blogs, let alone where to host them or even how to do that. The really sad part is that there wasn’t much advice or anything when it came to ecommerce web hosting. It almost felt like it was the blind leading the blind, you know? Thankfully though as time has progressed, there are now places that you can look into hosting and see what’s best for you. Depending on the type of blog/website you have, you might need a different style of hosting and there are all sorts of packages, so, it’s best to do your homework before you reach out on this endeavor. It would have saved me a lot of money and frustration in the past if there was some place to get reviews, etc.

No Fires With High Winds
Written by admin on May 21, 2010
Don’t set a fire for the time being, even if state fire officials had issued a permit to do so.
With thin resources and hot, dry weather Friday, officials temporarily suspended any permission to light controlled or prescribed burns in the unincorporated areas of San Diego County, according to CalFire, or the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
There is a chance that burning privileges might be restored within a few days

Brent & Kelly King In Sacramento & Washington
Written by admin on May 21, 2010
A week after their daughter’s killer was sentenced, the Kings take their fight for Chelsea’s Law to Capitol Hill.
The just arrived home from Washington, along with Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, who provided an update with a news conference.
Now, I know a lot of people are upset at the cost of this law (if it does indeed become one)…but, really…is there a way to put a price on our childrens safety? I don’t believe there is. There is far too many offenders out there to let run loose…it’s well worth it, to me.
Attempted Abduction Locally
Written by admin on May 21, 2010
Just a word of warning – Police have released a composite sketch of a man suspected of trying to abduct a 14-year-old girl as she walked home from Lincoln Middle School in Oceanside on Wednesday.
The suspect followed the girl and pulled up alongside her in his vehicle, police said. The man reportedly told the girl to “get in the car.” Police said the suspect drove onto the curb on Oceanside Boulevard near Camelot Drive ahead of the girl and blocked her path.
In fear, the girl ran in the opposite direction and the suspect fled.
The suspect is described as a black man, 40 to 45 years old, thin build, short black hair and with lots of facial wrinkles. He was wearing a dark-blue T-shirt and black sunglasses, according to the victim.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Detective Josh Morris at 760-435-4905.

Bayfront Port Expansion Vote
Written by admin on May 18, 2010
Sound famiiliar? Seems like we’ve heard this before…
Really though, one of the biggest hurdles to development along the Chula Vista bayfront could be conquered today with the San Diego Port Commission’s expected approval of a 10,000-page environmental report that lays out a compromise between preserving the environment and building by the water.
For years a host of public agencies, environmental groups, developers and concerned citizens have worked to address the potential effects of developing 550 acres of coveted coastal land that borders a wildlife refuge, a power plant and contaminated acreage.
Today, the Port District’s seven commissioners will take a final vote on certifying the report, which is the first of many more steps before building can begin.

Traffic Changes On Newport Road
Written by admin on May 18, 2010
For anyone who’s ever been stuck in long lines of cars waiting to turn left at Haun and Newport roads, which is one of the city’s busiest intersections, relief could be on the way.
The City Council on Tuesday night will be asked to approve a contract extension for a consultant to craft plans to extend two left-turn lanes at the intersection. During peak hours and especially on weekends, the left-turn lane from westbound Newport to southbound Haun can be especially troublesome for commuters and shoppers headed to the Countryside Marketplace shopping center.
Oh, and btw? Please watch out for the cameras. Those things catch you and you’ve got a nice 400 dollar bill in your mail.

Road Improvments In Murrieta? Maybe…
Written by admin on May 11, 2010
Murrieta residents who live in the Los Alamos Hills area are looking north and seeing a possible solution to their rutted-road woes.
More than 80 people live in estate homes set on about 6,000 acres off Los Alamos Road in the northeast corner of the city. The homes are surrounded by large swaths of open land and the homeowners want to maintain the area’s rural character, but are hoping the city will help them make improvements to the private roads that run through their community.
Los Alamos runs along the northern edge of the community and is the only road in the area that is paved. The rest, which offer the only access to and from homes, are dirt roads that in many cases are rutted and uneven —- and on occasion, the residents say, barely passable. Sometimes, they say, they find themselves trapped on their property until a neighbor with a tractor can level the road.

Gonna Be Delays On Harbor Drive
Written by admin on April 30, 2010
Two major events on Harbor Drive along the North Embarcadero are expected to create traffic problems this morning.
Two cruise ships will come into port at the same time the USS Midway museum will host a reunion of crew members and hundreds of Vietnamese refugees they rescued after the fall of Saigon.
The Celebrity Millennium, with 2,034 passengers, and the Carnival Elation, with 2,052 passengers, will be docking at the B Street Terminal to drop off and take on new passengers beginning around 8 a.m.
Right next door, the USS Midway museum will honor the 35th anniversary of Operation Frequent Wind, which rescued thousands of Vietnamese and Americans over a 19-hour period on April 29-30, 1975. During the Fall of Saigon, 81 American military helicopters flew refugees and American citizens to aircraft carriers, with more than half landing on the USS Midway.
About 2,000 guests, including 1975 Midway Captain Larry Chambers, and 1975 Midway Air Boss Vern Jumper, are expected for the noon event.
The Port District recommends people hoping to visit the area use trolley or other public transportation.

You Can Put Away The Parka….For Now
Written by admin on April 30, 2010
A wet and cool April ends and May begins with sunny skies and a slow, slight warming trend.
High pressure building to the west should keep the weather pleasant through Tuesday. A flow out of the northwest will prevent temperatures from rising too much, but highs at the coast should still reach the mid-60s today, then climb a couple of degrees Saturday and Sunday. The inland valleys are expected to be near 70 today and Saturday, and in the low 70s Sunday. Low clouds could creep back at the beaches late Saturday.
Monday should be the warmest day, with the coast nearing 70 and the inland valleys hitting the mid-70s. No rain is in the forecast through late next week, but cooler conditions and deep marine layer are expected to develop Wednesday.
Beach weather baby! See you all there!

And We’re Still Rumblin!
Written by admin on April 19, 2010
A series of small earthquakes shook the California desert near the US-Mexico border along a fault where a magnitude-7.2 quake slammed cities on both sides two weeks earlier.
Preliminary reports from the U.S. Geological Survey say a magnitude-3.8 temblor was the biggest of about a dozen small quakes Sunday in the area near Calexico.
A dispatcher with the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department says there have been no reports of any damages or injuries.
The powerful quake on April 4 killed two people in Mexico and damage estimates for California approach $100 million.
The last few days when I’ve been sitting in a chair or laying in bed, I’ve felt the rocking – have you!?
