Thoroughbread Club To Get An Extention?
Written by admin on October 4, 2009
The state committee that doles out leases at the Del Mar Racetrack has decided to wait until next year to consider proposals from other groups that may be interested in managing the racing season at the popular seaside venue.
Late last month, the State Race Track Leasing Commission pulled a request for proposals to run racing operations at the track, deciding instead to grant a one-year extension to the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, which has managed the track for 40 years.

Another Blackout Looming?
Written by admin on September 16, 2009
Another big, fat, ugh!
The Chargers are gearing up for their home opener against Baltimore. However, the game could be blacked out because it is not completely sold out.
Chargers head coach Norv Turner says the packed house in Oakland was a big part of the Raiders’ tough play and he says Chargers fans need to make their presence felt come Sunday.
There are still around 2500 tickets available. The tickets must be sold by Thursday. I really question if they’re going to sell enough….
Anybody going?

Chargers Game Blacked Out…Again
Written by admin on September 1, 2009
The San Diego Chargers say their exhibition finale against the San Francisco 49ers on Friday night will be blacked out on local TV.
The game wasn’t close to being a sellout more than 72 hours prior to kickoff, with approximately 7,000 general-admission tickets remaining Tuesday.
The Chargers’ exhibition opener against Seattle also was blacked out when some 6,000 general-admission tickets remained unsold.
Until that game, the Chargers hadn’t had an exhibition blackout since 2006. The team has warned fans that there could be regular-season blackouts. The Chargers haven’t had a regular-season game blacked out since 2004.

Blue Bombers Win US Championship
Written by admin on August 29, 2009
It just finished up after a LONG rain delay, but, it’s finally over. In a mercy rule game, our boys from Chula Vista took out the little guys from San Antonio to win the United States Little League Championship game. Luke Rameriez again was amazing…clubbing a monster homerun and tossed a 1 hitter as well. The game was delayed about two hours thanks to the rain storm on the East Coast, but, they ended it about normal time since the 10 run mercy rule was envoked after the top of the 4th inning.
They take on Taipei tomorrow afternoon on ABC. Make sure you watch. GO CHULA!

Blue Bombers Pull It Out
Written by admin on August 28, 2009
Wow – did anybody get a chance to watch the Chula Vista Park View Little League All-Star game last night? That…was impressive. I was really worried for a while, that Georgia team was amazing. But, once we got into the bottom of the 6th I knew they were going to take it. And that shot by Luke Rameriez was something you’d see in a Major League game! Holy crap that thing went into the sky.
A great job by all! They take on the boys from San Antone tomorrow afternoon at 12, so make sure you watch. Game will be on your local ABC channel.

Local Charges Broadcast Blacked Out
Written by admin on August 6, 2009
Cause you aren’t gonna be able to watch it locally!! As you know, the NFL has serious restrictions on blackouts on games that don’t sell out. Well, with the way the economy is, games simply aren’t going to sell out. The NBA, NHL, and MLB have all shown significant drops in attendance this year due to the lovely economy and the NFL isn’t going to be any different. Well, other than the fact that they don’t show un-sold out games on TV. Nice huh?
What a waste.

Skate Park To Re-Open
Written by admin on June 9, 2009
The $2.1 million skatepark at Carmel Mountain Road and Freeport Road was closed for five months as San Diego city officials tried to figure out why wooden structures at the 4-year-old facility were falling apart. The park reopened June 30 after workers removed the dilapidated wooden ramps, half-pipes and other structures.
Glad to see they’ve got this reopen and in operating condition again. The kids in the area just LOVE it…and were heartbroken when they shut it down. Took a little longer than it should have, but, at least it’s open. I might stop by and do a little skating myself. Been a while!
