My Pre-Xmas Vacation

Written by admin on November 16, 2010

Well, I shouldn’t say vacation I guess since I will be working. Anyway, I’m going to be staying up at a family lake house (as I normally do) on my annual pre Christmas vacation. It’s something I’ve done for a few years and I guess I’m making it somewhat of a tradition. Anyway, the problem with the house (beautiful as it is)…is that there is no internet access. I know, right? So, I’m going to get wild blue high speed internet installed up there so I can work away on my “vacation”. Haha, seriously though, I do take some time off to enjoy the scenery so it’s not like I’m working all the time when I’m there. Plus, it’s out in the middle of no place…so the internet is going to be my only friend. :( haha

What About A Christmas Clock?

Written by admin on November 16, 2010

So, I’ve been racking my brain lately trying to figure out a gift for my grandparents. They don’t do much, other than travel and play golf, and well…I get them a present associated with one of those activities EVERY year…even for their birthdays. So, I wanted to switch it up this year. I thought about getting them a really pretty clock for their living room. I pressed my Grandmother on it a few weeks back and she mentioned her love of Howard Miller clocks, so, I think I’ll take the plunge and get them one this year. They actually had one (well, were given one) when my Grandfather retired but that’s been quite some time ago. They totally need a new one. I hope they like it!

Time To Date?

Written by admin on November 16, 2010

You know what sucks? The local dating scene. I don’t know why, but, I just can’t find anybody local that is worth my time. I know that sounds a bit condescending but it’s true. Why waste my time or theirs? Doesn’t make a lot of sense either way.

Anyway, with the holidays coming up, etc…I don’t have a lot of time to be dating anyway…so maybe I’ll give it a rest until the new year.

Anti Gym Opens in El Cajon

Written by admin on November 15, 2010

The self-proclaimed ‘anti-gym’ has come to El Cajon. Yes, you read that right. Anti-Gym. lol

CrossFit East County, a 4,000-square-foot fitness center owned by local businessman Paul Flores, relocated last month from neighboring La Mesa. Last week, Flores hosted a dedication ceremony for the new facility, located at 1411 N. Cuyamaca Street, which was attended by several local politicians and police officers.

CrossFit is a performance-based exercise program that has attracted a huge following over the last few years, and it is especially popular among first responders. Flores, 50, said 80 percent of CrossFit East County’s 155-member clientele are police officers, firefighters and military.

Flores’ facility hardly looks like a gym. It is a spacious room with high ceilings, a few free weights and no machines. Members have the option of paying for personal training, which ranges from $60-$70 an hour, or participating in group classes that start at $100 a month for beginners.

Splendor Passenges Can’t Get A Break

Written by admin on November 15, 2010

The Carnival Splendor remains docked along the Embarcadero, as crews work to repair damage from Monday’s fire.

Meantime, some passengers are still making their way home, and it seems they can’t catch a break.

Now apparently the hotel they’re staying out has lost its power.

It was an eerily similar experience to what happened onboard the Splendor. What a mess. Poor people.

Throwing A Holiday Party!

Written by admin on November 15, 2010

So this year I’ll be throwing my first ever holiday party. I’ve taken part in a few before, but, never threw my own. I’ve got pretty much everything set up except for the invites. Which, I know, seems somewhat backwards but I’m always one to do things quickly. Anyway, I’m in the process of setting up some holiday party reminder cards that I’ll send out to all my invitees. I think it’ll be a nice way to not only invite them but also make sure they remember. Telling them in person, you know, things get missed…forgotten about, etc, etc. This should make for a more active party.

Eye Glasses As A Present? Why Not!?

Written by admin on November 15, 2010

So I’ve been thinking of treating myself this holiday season and picking up some prescription eye glasses. I know, I know…eye glasses aren’t maybe the first thing you think of when it comes to gifts for yourself, but, have you seen the prices of eye glasses from your doctor? It’s like, holy moly. The other day I saw a pair he recommended to me for like 400 dollars. 400 dollars! Are you kidding me!? What’s so special about them? It’s insane. There is nothing better about those than a 10 or 20 dollar pair. Sillyness.

Hip Recall?

Written by admin on October 29, 2010

So the phone rang yesterday morning and it was my Grandmother. She told me she was watching the news and saw something about a depuy hip recall and being she doesn’t have any internet, she wanted to call me and have me look into it. So, being the nice grandson that I am, I did just that and got her the info she wanted. She actually doesn’t have any hip issues, it’s my Great Grandmother who this could effect and you know if my Grandmother doesn’t have the internet, my Great Grandmother surely doesn’t! hah

Anyway, it was a good thing I checked on this…I’m sure it’ll give both my Grandmother and Great Grandmother a better piece of mind knowing what they wanted to know.

Finding A Good Blog Host

Written by admin on October 29, 2010

There is nothing like an important blog host. I don’t know why, but, so many bloggers skimp out on this and I can’t figure it out. So many times I get an e-mail telling me to visit a particular blog or just find one during my daily surfing of the net and the blog is down. And not only is it down, but, it’s down for quite some time. Why don’t people buy premier and high quality blog hosting? You invest all of this time…all of this energy into making a good blog and then it goes down for hours every week or so…I just don’t understand it. I guess I’m a little sensitive to the subject since when I first started out blogging, I wasn’t very aware. I just picked some random host and ran with it. I couldn’t figure out why my blog had so many issues. Too much traffic? It would shut down. Some odd thing I installed on my blog, the hosting company would shut it down. It was insane. So, take your time and find a good blog host. It’ll be worth it.

New Bed For Cabin

Written by admin on October 20, 2010

As many of you know, and some of you that don’t, I purchased (well, time shared, if you will) a new cabin with a buddy of mine up in Big Bear. We decided we’d split the furnishing duties with me getting the bedroom.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the old wooden look in cabins, so, I’ve decided that I will be getting two log beds for the bedrooms. It’s a really weird shaped cabin, the bed room (while only one of them) is massive and it will easily fit two queen size beds if I wanted for maybe even three doubles. I’m not really sure which route I want to go with yet, but, I do know I want them to be a log bed to go with the overall theme of the place.

I don’t think we’ll ever have more than three people up there…eh, tough call!
